Let's do some remodeling.
I've taken down my old posts from this site. While they are interesting from a historical perspective, illustrating my journey through politics and economics during my zeitgeist / anarcho-communist years, they no longer reflect many of my current viewpoints very well. I was being drawn to some voluntarist thought at the time, even though my heart is more of an anarcho-communist. Processing some libertarian / voluntaryist concepts through the lens of anarchism was interesting, but didn't come to much. My problems with the state have always been rooted in my understanding of money, which has evolved drastically over time. Currently I'm a fan of Modern Monetary Theory aka neo-chartalism, which reifies the necessity and power of a state (under firm democratic control).
We are far from that in 2021, having lost more and more control over our democracy to corporate interests and conservative think tanks. (including nearly losing control completely in the 2021 coup attempt). It's a scary and fascinating time in American politics. It's more and more obvious that the two major political parties are really just different flavors of pro-business rulers, and trying to pass progressive or leftist policies is nearly impossible.
